Gravelpit.. medic_killer

For my first bit of analysis I decided I would take a look at the map that 9/10 medics say is their least favourite map. I mean don't get me wrong I understand why they say this but at the same time this map is the one that separates the amazing medics from the good medics in my books. This map throws everything and the kitchen sink at you as medic and you NEED to be able to keep cool under pressure. One uber drop, one pocket drop, hell even not buffing your scouts and the round is blown. Things can snowball easy and you might find that a lost round turns into a lost game very quickly.

It's the map that frustrates teams beyond compare because it actually takes, dare I say.. a LITTLE more strategy than usual?

You know who the puppet master who's pulling all those strategical strings? The medic.

I decided I was going to watch every invite gravelpit match from every single medics perspective and show off what I like to call a few 'power plays.' In the end almost every power play was from the Flow and Quantic match. I'd been looking forward to this match for a while.

Now I'm not saying every other medic is bad.. it's just a lot of them looked confused on this map. Actually the ducks and br0 match was the most entertaining. Mesr made no mistakes but was boring to watch (not a bad thing) and on the other side thrill would make a big play, but then counteract it with a bit off positioning followed by him dying. Every time I tried to take a highlight from something he did well, 10 seconds later he would die. This may not be his fault either, I can't hear the comms.

Again though, no medics played horribly.. some just seemed a bit boggled.

With this I present to you a little something I made, featuring some 'power plays' that PYYYOUR and SHADE cooked up. I realize that to a non-medic some of this may seem arbitrary.. run of the mill boring stuff but to any of you that have played medic in the past... and well hell anyone really, I hope you enjoy.

wut

Let's see what we got here. I thought it would be fitting to open up this new blog with a post I made recently, I think it adequately sums up everything.

This is a post by me taken from a thread recently on NATF2, thanking medics for what they do:

"You wanna know what keeps one playing medic still? Even if it's just for a lobby here and there and... god-forbid... a pub for a half hour a day?

It's when you just a great day fishing and flying kites with your girlfriend, then shortly after a nice dinner you two are lying in the grass watching clouds go by. You give a little smile to yourself because you just had a daydream about a perfect ubercharge. I'm not talking some obsessive, I NEED THE GAME NOW type thought but just that fleeting image of that perfect damage denying flash and you smile and maybe let out a little laugh. She looks at you and asks 'What's up babe?' To which you can only respond, 'Perfection.' She then looks at you oddly for a second, returns the smile and lies back down - closing her eyes, taking in the invulnerability aura that emanates from you."
